Students who leave school during the school day (for illness, appointments, etc.) are required to remain in the office until a parent or designate sign them out. That said, parents are asked to come into the school on such occasions. If someone who is not listed as a contact on the student's file is picking up the student, it is also important that parents either notify the school by phone or written notification. Thanks so much for helping us keep your children safe!

CCRSB has extended the application deadline for students interested in enrolling in Integrated French. The new application deadline is March 6, 2017.
In the Chignecto family, Integrated French (Grade 7 entry) is available at E.B. Chandler Junior High (Amherst) and Springhill Junior/Senior High (Springhill).
Information packages (including application forms) are available at all schools with Grade 6 students, as well as each Family of Schools Office (Chignecto Family of Schools Office - 84 Church Street, Springhill) and at the CCRSB Central Office in Truro. Once completed, the application form should be returned to the child’s school.
This same information can also be found on the CCRSB website at http://www.ccrsb.ca/content/integrated-french-grade-7-entry-optional-french-program
Students and their families do not need to have a background in French to participate and find success in Integrated French programs.
Parents or guardians with questions should contact the CCRSB French Program Services Department at 902-897-8965 or 1-800-770-0008 (toll-free in Nova Scotia).
For more information about Optional French Programs in CCRSB visit http://www.ccrsb.ca/optional-french-programs.
The March menu for the SSA cafeteria is now posted. Please find it under the 'About SSA' tab at the top of the page.
For CCRSB schools, winter weather means the potential closure of schools when conditions are considered unsuitable for our students and staff.
When winter weather is predicted, CCRSB staff consult with multiple weather forecasts and forecasters, and check on road conditions throughout the school board region via the RCMP and the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation, as well as our own staff members on the ground in each area, to help make the call to cancel school or for early dismissal.
Decisions regarding school cancellations, or early dismissals, are made by CCRSB’s Operational Services Department and happen in the early morning (before 6:30 am). It is important that our schools have the most up-to-date contact information for parents and guardians, and that parents and guardians have alternative arrangements in place for their children, before a cancellation or early dismissal takes place.
A full day cancellation or an early dismissal, due to weather conditions, will be announced in several ways:
- The “All Schools Open” button on the CCRSB home page changes to red for a full cancellation or orange for early dismissal. By clicking on the button, you can get closure information specific to your Family of Schools.
- A message regarding the cancellation or early dismissal is posted to the CCRSB home page under “News”, to the CCRSB Facebook page and to our Twitter feed.
- Information is sent to all local newspapers, radio and television stations within CCRSB, including CBC radio in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and CFCY radio in Charlottetown.
CCRSB thanks all parents, guardians and students for their patience and understanding as we move through the start of the winter season. Please know that all decisions regarding cancellations and early dismissals are made with great care for the safety of students and staff.
