Need to Know....

  • Coats for Cumberland

Coats for Cumberland will take place on November 17th at the Amherst Center Mall.  If any of our families would like to donate (coats, hats, mitts, scarves, boots etc), please drop them off to our school office.

  • Halloween Celebrations

On Tuesday October 31st students are welcome to wear costumes to school or they may choose to wear black and orange clothing. If costumes are worn, there are some guidelines we ask to be followed to ensure the safety of everyone:

    • No masks: we need to be able to identify students during the day.
    • Limited make up: we try to keep students on task during the day and limited make- up will allow for fewer disruptions.
    • Student driven: the day is for the students, so we are asking that costumes be something that students are able to maintain for the day…simple and fun.
    • No pretend weapons:  we will not permit pretend swords, guns or weapons of any kind.
    • Student friendly: we ask that costumes are friendly to all, both the older students and Primary.
    • Food: If food is being sent in, we ask that it be allergy-safe, healthy and respectful of CCRSB’s Food & Nutrition policy.

Hopefully students can have a fun and successful day. Our goal is to continue with the normal academic outcomes for the day, while at the same time allow students a positive and fun experience.

  • Photos

To celebrate the wonderful teaching and learning that goes on at SSA everyday, we are going to try to make our photo gallery a bit more active. Check that link on our main page from time to time to see what's happening. We will be careful not to post pictures of students for whom we have not received publication consent.

  • Allergy Safe

This is a reminder that Spring Street Academy endeavors to be an allergy safe school so please help us to keep our students safe.  We have several students with life threatening allergies. There are many nut free snacks available and we would ask that parents NOT send items containing nuts of any kind to school (including peanut butter and Nutella). Though we cannot guarantee that those items will not show up from time to time we try to be vigilant. Please make us aware in the office of any students who have severe allergies of any kind.

  • Cram A Cruiser

The Amherst Police Department is proud to be hosting a "cram a cruiser" event at Spring Street Academy on November 9 from 8:00-9:00 AM. The crime prevention cruiser will be parked in front of the school and members of our school community are urged to "cram" the cruiser with non-perishable food items. The food items will be donated to the local food bank. Students and families are also encouraged to donate gently used coats or winter wear that can be donated in support of the Coats for Cumberland campaign. We hope to see you all there and have the cruiser crammed full of coats and food! Many thanks in advance for supporting the local food bank and the Empowering Beyond Barriers Coats for Cumberland campaign.
